Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Athens Test Prep LLC, a Georgia limited liability company (“Athens Test Prep,” “we,” “us”), collects through athenstestprep.org, why we collect it, and how to reach us about it. It should be read alongside our Terms & Refund Policy and Cookie Policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect information directly from you, and a small amount automatically:

Account information. When you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name and email address, and a password or sign-in method you choose. We receive your name and email from Clerk; we never see or store your password.
Booking & contact details. Student name, parent/guardian name, phone number, and the address where a session takes place, so a tutor can be matched, scheduled, and sent to the right home.
Payment information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount, but we never receive or store your full card number.
Homework & session content. Assignments, turned-in work, and files a tutor or student uploads through the homework tool, stored so the assigned tutor and student can see it.
Tutor profile information. For tutors: bio, subjects, highlights, photos, and (optionally) a home address and mode of transportation used only to show families roughly how far away a tutor is — a tutor's address is never shown to families or students.
Consultation requests. Name and phone number, if you book a free consultation call.
Technical information. Our host, Cloudflare, automatically logs standard request data (like IP address and browser type) for security and reliability, the way any web host does. See our Cookie Policy for what's stored in your browser.

We only ask for what we need to schedule sessions, deliver tutoring, and process payment — we don't ask for information we don't have a use for.

2. How we use it

To create and maintain your account, and let you sign in.
To schedule, reschedule, and remind you about sessions and consultations.
To match students with tutors and let tutors assign and review homework.
To process payments and refunds.
To send you service email — booking confirmations, reminders, and receipts — via our email provider, Resend.
To respond when you contact us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.

3. Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that help us run Athens Test Prep, each acting on our behalf and under their own privacy terms:

Clerk — sign-in and account authentication.
Stripe — payment processing.
Resend — sending booking and account email.
Cloudflare — website hosting, file storage for homework attachments and photos, and security.

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a student, tutor, or the public.

4. Children's privacy

Athens Test Prep tutors students who are minors, but accounts are always created and held by a parent or legal guardian, as required by our Terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 through account registration or payment — a student's first name is used within the account to personalize scheduling and homework, entered by the parent or guardian who holds the account. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will remove it.

5. Data retention

We keep account, booking, and payment records for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations afterward. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal information at any time; see Section 7.

6. Security

We use industry-standard providers (Clerk, Stripe, Cloudflare) that encrypt data in transit and at rest, and we don't store full payment card numbers ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information appropriately for the data we hold.

7. Your choices & rights

You can review and update most of your account information by signing in.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to close your account, by emailing us.
You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time; you'll still receive service email (like a confirmation for a session you booked) tied to your account activity.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted here with its effective date.
